Saturday, April 26th – Hoover’s Annual Hazardous Waste Day

The City of Hoover’s annual Hazardous Waste Day is an opportunity to safely dispose of household chemicals, pesticides, paints, batteries, automobile fluids, electronics, medications, guns, ammo and other hazardous items.  This year’s event is scheduled for April 26th from 8:00am until noon at the Hoover Met.  Tis even is only for Hoover residents, not for businesses.  Verification of residency is required.

Sunday, April 27th – Live Well Walk

2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Inaugural Live Well Walk at Hoover Met Stadium hosted by Southeastern Diabetes Education Services (SDES), featuring One Mile Fun Run, 3K trail route, and 5K Road Course, dance party featuring HoopJams and line dancing, healthy snacks. Proceeds benefit Camp Seale Harris, Alabama’s only diabetes camp. No fee to register at www.campsealeharris.org  $50.00 minimum donations earns official Live Well Walk t-shirt. Sponsorship available at 402-0415. SDES Executive Director Rhonda McDavid is passionate about giving kids the opportunity to attend Camp Seale Harris. “Sending a child with diabetes to Camp Seale Harris gives them independence and confidence in managing diabetes well, and support from friends that understand.”
Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 Celebrate Hoover Day

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Celebrate Hoover Day at Veterans Park on Valleydale. Chamber members have the opportunity to reserve a booth in the large Exhibitor Pavilion for only $100. Rental of the booth includes space under a large tent, skirted table, two chairs and exhibitor sign. With 10,000 people expected to attend this free city-wide celebration, this is an excellent opportunity for you to promote your business. Hoover Rotary Club

The Hoover Rotary Club meets for lunch each Wednesday from noon until 1 at the Hoover Country Club.  Cost of lunch is $17.00.

Rotary is an International Service Organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary is involved in the local community through several service projects including the Dictionary Project, serving meals at both the Ronald McDonald Home and Hope Lodge, Toy’s for Tots and world wide projects including eradicating polio.
