Greater Birmingham Area Community of Hoover

The City of Hoover was incorporated in 1967 and was named after William H. Hoover, a local insurance company owner. The area had been known as the Hoover community since the 1930s and was mostly a residential community. Hoover is the largest suburb of Birmingham, Alabama with a population of just over 81,000. It has a total area of approximately  43.65 square miles.  After the development of one of the largest shopping centers in the U.S, the Riverchase Galleria, the city  began to develop and grow rapidly.

The school system in Hoover is widely respected with both the Spain Park High School and Hoover High School ranking among the top 25 high schools for the state of Alabama. The schools districts “Engaging in Learning Initiative” will bring digital learning devices to student thus advancing the level of education in the classroom.  This makes Hoover a great place place to raise a family.
